Abstract/Summary:
This thesis provides an integrative and holistic sample curriculum for young children along with early literacy activities in addition to research in the following areas: environmental aesthetics, the role of nature and art in the young child's development, peace and living values education, and a comparative study of traditional, Montessori and integrative curriculum practices.;The thesis contributes to the development of a model of education that takes into consideration the environment, aesthetics and a wholesome approach to life. Young children experience an intense brain growth and are very impressionable at a very young age; therefore, it is highly suggested that educators and the whole community involved in the educating process implement meaningful, integrative and holistic practices that honor the fascinating complexity of this age. The approach to this educational model is integrative by including the spiritual, emotional, physical and mental intelligences. Integrative holistic education addresses the whole person by creating an environment in which children engage in learning processes and experiences that focus on developing and integrating all intelligences.
