Twenty-two community dwelling elders aged 65 and older, who live in their own home or apartment were recruited for this study. An initial home assessment was conducted by the participant and within one week a follow-up assessment and information session was performed by a trained examiner. A statistical analysis using independent t-tests revealed a statistically significant difference exists in total number of hazards identified by older adults and a trained examiner using the HSSAT (p=0.001; p<0.005 ). A difference in perception existed for all areas of the home except for entrance to the back or side door. | Keywords/Search Tags: | Trained examiner using, Home, Perception, Older, Assessment | | Related items |
