Abstract/Summary:
Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI) is a severe problem mainly seen in middle aged women related to child birth, trauma, etc. Surgeons throughout the world have long sought for an effective method for the determination of type of biomaterial tape used in the surgical procedures. Fuzzy and neuro-fuzzy logic concepts are used for the algorithm, development where easy mathematical relations do not exist. With the patients data, fuzzy inference rules can be made with extensive experimentation of membership function parameter calculation. Similarly, neuro-fuzzy inference system is trained and parameters are adjusted after iterative process. Both fuzzy and neuro-fuzzy approach is used for the success rate determination with all the given variables.; Relative success rate determination using factor analysis of the given data matrix is a new attempt in biomedical engineering. We calculate relative success rate and relative variance for given input set with the developed algorithm using statistical analysis.; In this thesis, we have developed some novel techniques for the determination of relative success rate of the surgical procedure for SUI and developed systematic algorithm for the same. The results of the algorithm were found very encouraging and we hope that this thesis will pave the way for future research work in biomedical engineering.
