Abstract/Summary:
The goal of this professional project is to promote awareness of the importance of testing and early detection for Alzheimer's disease (AD) through public relations efforts. While there is no cure for Alzheimer's, increased awareness of all testing and treatment options allows patients to live out their lives more comfortably and prepare loved ones for life after the patient's death.; Presently, nearly 4.5 million people in the U.S. have Alzheimer's disease and that number will rise as the population ages. With more diagnoses, more families and loved ones will feel hopeless. Coping with AD is an important part of treating Alzheimer's.; Through PR outreach, communities will recognize the need for more treatment options such as rehab, trying to relearn little skills that have been forgotten. Rehab isn't a cure but does provide patients and families with a sense of hope.
