Development and integration of new simulation modules to analyze energy building software (French text)

Abstract/Summary:
This master project can be divided into two distinct parts. In the first part, we demonstrate the modelling capabilities of a building's HVAC system using EnergyPlus v.1 build 23 software. A section of the École de Technologie Supérieure (ÉTS) was used as a model. Of the eleven VAV systems and associated zones, one has been simulated using both EnergyPlus and DOE-2E software. A database created from four internal areas and their associated HVAC system served to validating the EnergyPlus software programmed model. Results from this comparative analysis confirm that it is possible to precisely simulate the operation of HVAC systems and their associated areas based on a detailed overview of building's areas. Moreover, we show the comparative analysis between simulation results obtained from the reference software (DOE-2E) and those obtained from EnergyPlus software. Those results also highlight differences between both software results. Finally, we explain characteristics and observations that were made during the modelling and results analysis.; In the second part, we present the methodology used for the creation and the integration of the simulation module into EnergyPlus version 1.0.2.008 software. The simulation module created in this part can be used to simulate the operation of a boiler according to biénergie controls established by Hydro-Québec. To help validating this module, a fictitious office building model has been programmed using EnergyPlus version 1.0.2.008. This building model was programmed in accordance with energy laws and standards. Thus, this model has successfully proved the reliability of the new simulation module. At the end, a comparative analysis of energy costs between three simulation models and the impact of the computing timestamp on electricity costs is also presented.
