Abstract/Summary:
Fluidized bed technology is an established technology for many process industries including chemical, petroleum, metallurgy, and power plants. In operations like drying, coating, rapid heat transfer catalytic cracking of hydrocarbons, roasting of metallurgical ores, and regeneration of spent catalysts, local combustion is often necessary to gradually bring material into intimate contact with a fluid (gas or liquid).; The present work analyzes the fluidization behavior for various fluidization particles (blasting sand, glass beads, saw dust and Charcoal) at different fluid (air) temperatures, fluid flow rates, and bed heights. The analysis also includes the emissions of CO during coal combustion under varying fluid temperature.; The graphs between the airflow rate and the pressure across the bed are plotted for different inlet air temperatures and different bed materials. Regression analysis is done on the results to obtain correlations for minimum fluidization velocity under different fluid temperatures. The coal burning rate and combustion parameters under varying fluid temperatures were also provided.; The experimental results obtained were compared with the available theoretical data to validate the Experiment, and good agreements were obtained.
