Abstract/Summary:
Metal cutting is one of the most widely used methods of producing the final shape of manufactured goods. Predictive metal removal models allow manufacturers to assess and improve manufacturing operations to achieve optimal quality and performance. The research presented in this thesis focuses on predictive models for milling and broaching operations. New developments include the application of a finite element method in time to simultaneously predict the stability and accuracy in milling.
