Abstract/Summary:
The global objective of this project is to implement a parametric modeling of the trunk surface in order to facilitate the automatic extraction of indices, which can then be used to quantify external deformations due to a scoliosis. Within this general context, there are two specific objectives: First, to model the trunk with a parametric surface that respects certain tolerances relative to the 3D data points coming from the InSpeck acquisition system (InSpeck Inc., Montreal). A parametric surface will be built because, compared to the polygonal surface provided by the acquisition system, it allows easy calculation of derivatives. The second objective will be to qualitatively identify anatomical landmarks on this surface that will be useful for determining clinical indices.; The 3D reconstruction technique used in this project is based on the InSpeck system, which is a non-invasive active vision system comprised of four optical digitizers placed around the patient. It is based on phase-shifted Moire projection and triangulation. In less than five seconds, the whole patient's trunk surface is rebuilt in 3D with texture. (Abstract shortened by UMI.)...
