Abstract/Summary:
This study addresses the question: How can the Alberta Institute of Power Engineers (AIPE) support the stakeholders to deal with the shortage of power engineers in NE Alberta? It provides the opportunity to examine how to establish AIPE as a vehicle to link the voices of the stakeholders. Currently the companies are competing with one another; as a result, wages and the cost of benefits are spiraling upward to an unmanageable level. This trend could have an adverse effect on the future development of the heavy oil projects and the economy of this region. This study focuses on finding resolutions based on the promotion of mutual understanding, cooperation, and building positive working relationships among the stakeholders. This research was guided by the eight ethical principles of the RRU Research Ethics Policy (2004) to ensure the rights and interests of the participants are safeguarded.
