Abstract/Summary:
The thesis looks at the development of an integrated methodology for inventory management needed to satisfy blanket orders. Various combinations of hybrid push/pull and mixed push and pull policies are used to govern replenishment planning. A real time decision support system is developed using Visual Basic, which is used to control both the production and purchase planning. The system is to use information from the installed MAPICSORTM ERP system, ensuring accuracy of the data but do so without requiring any changes to be made to the ERP system code. The integrated software system designed and developed during the course of the research while making better use of the existing ERP system, will assist in making accurate real time operational level inventory decisions.
