Abstract/Summary:
There remains an important gap in the current literature regarding the extent of the impact financial incentives may have on self-managed work teams (SMWTs). The proposed research design consisted of a pretest-posttest method through the administration of the Quality Performance Questionnaire (GOTEAMS) to a sample of 384 bankers from 77 retail banking offices of a large banking company for the purpose of assessing team perceptions of working environments containing managerial implementation strategies of teamwork. Data collected in this study will be analyzed using a repeated measure t-test method. Results of this study are expected to demonstrate that monetary incentives are secondary to the interdependence and collective efficacy variables that may affect team effectiveness. Social change implication of this study may include increased understanding in the functionality of work groups that comprise current working environments, and elevating the awareness of the human factor as managers develop incentive programs for their employees.
