Abstract/Summary:
The goal of this study was to determine how the Government of British Columbia, Ministry of Children and Family Development could support community stakeholders inselecting suitable candidates for training in the delivery of the Connect Parent Group program (Connect). Connect is a manualized, principle-based treatment program targeting caregivers of youth diagnosed with conduct disorder. To date, there are approximately 80 trained Connect group leaders across the Province of British Columbia; however, only about 50 of them are fully certified or actively pursuing certification. The benefits of certification through successful recruitment and retention include: having effective intervention strategies for the treatment and prevention of conduct disorder, maximizing cost/time ratio, building community capacity, and promoting of Connect. Therefore, the focus of this project was the exploration, identification, and suggestions for implementations of these four criteria. The study complies with the ethical requirements of my organization and university.
