Abstract/Summary:
Multi User Diversity is a technique of using the randomness of the channel conditions of every user to maximize the throughput of the network. We simulate a series of Rayleigh Fading signals and use each one to represent a different user. A plot of Probability of Bit Error and Average SNR is generated for different sample rates and number of users in a network. When analyzed varying the sampling rates, it is seen that the multi user diversity yields best throughput improvement when the sampling rate is equal to the data rate, and the improvement fades away rapidly when the sample rate is reduced. Also, there is a rapid improvement in the throughput when used for two or three users. The improvement in throughput is very minimal for users beyond three. A scheduling mechanism is suggested in order to introduce the required degree of fairness.
