Non-coherent detection of Alamouti Space-Time Block Code

Abstract/Summary:
Alamouti Space-Time Block Code (STBC) is one of the most famous space-time coding schemes. But the conventional Alamouti STBC scheme can not be applied when the receiver has no channel information or the transmitter can not guarantee perfect synchronization between its transmit antennas. In rapidly changing wireless communication environments, it is sometimes not easy for the receiver to get the channel information in time, while it may be hard for the transmitter to guarantee the perfect synchronization in some other circumstances.;In this thesis, as one of possible ways for this challenge, we develop a new STBC receiving technique which does not need the channel information or carrier frequency synchronization at the receiver. Specifically, we apply the Alamouti STBC with frequency-shift keying (FSK) modulation and the associated non-coherent detection, and such techniques can be integrated into frequency-hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) systems.
