Abstract/Summary:
The emerging influence of multimedia in the Internet has contributed to the extensive usage of visual media for information dissemination. The advent of the Semantic Web and the exponential increase in available data has encouraged the need for better ways of handling online video content.;We propose a semantic model that supports event-aware video retrieval using an ontology and validates sequences of activities. The consideration of diverse perspectives while composing videos is another vital aspect of the model that facilitates effective video retrieval. Based on the implementation and evaluation measuring accuracy and semantic richness on an extensive dataset, we conclude that the SViReC Model provides better video retrieval results when compared to a video search engine such as YouTube.
