Spectroscopic properties of Ho3+-doped Yttria (Y 2O3), LuAG (Lu3Al5O12), and YAG (Y3Al5O12) were studied at wavelengths around 2mum using ground state absorption for efficient, high power, eye-safe laser operation. High resolution measurements of absorption and stimulated emission cross sections and radiative lifetimes of Ho 3+ in these hosts were studied at a range of temperature from 77K to 300K. These results contributed to the construction of the first Ho: Y 2O3 laser at 2.1mum. |
