The main objective of this descriptive study was to determine the perception of business owners/managers of Mayaguez toward the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games. A questionnaire was created and given to 114 business owners/managers in several areas of the city of Mayaguez where the Games will take place. A Chi-Square statistical analysis was used to study six hypotheses.;In general, a great majority of business owners/managers of Mayaguez have knowledge about the duration, activities and construction projects related to the events. The majority of business owners/managers who were part of the study expected profits to increase. The participants perceive that the 2010 Games will be beneficial to the city.;The statistical analysis showed expectation of visitors, change in business profits and those industries perceived to be with a greater beneficial advantage, are not related to the type of industry that the participant is a part of. |
