| An interesting discussion about music and art should begin by determining how these disciplines are very different from each other. Works of art such as a painting, a sculpture, a finely thrown vase, or even fragile blown crystal are tangible items that remain as they were created. Music in its notated form is tangible but until it is performed it is intangible. The same notated score will sound differently each time it is performed and without recordings the aesthetic value of the music is lost when the performance ends.;Ancient Irish harp music has managed to survive from the oral history period through all kinds of conquest and strife to finally be collected and preserved at the Belfast Harp Festival of 1792. Harp Music the Gossamer Thread Woven Through Irish History is a journey through the centuries where ancient music and history are intertwined in a fine contrapuntal dance. |
