Abstract/Summary:
Objectives. The purpose of this study was to compare the different types of orthodontic practice management software available to orthodontists. Methods. The levels of satisfaction were assessed for individual features of different programs. Subjects were asked to score their answers on a scale from -3 to +3. Two hundred seventy-six users of orthodontic practice management software were surveyed. Data collection was performed at the American Association of Orthodontist 2006 meeting held in Las Vegas. Statistically significant differences in responses were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney tests. Results. The Mann-Whitney test showed statistically significant differences among the software programs. The mean overall score for the Dolphin, IMS, Kodak, OAsys, and OrthoII were 1.52, 0.92, 1.27, 1.95, and 2.10, respectively. Scores for individual features were often lower. Conclusions. Users of OrthoII have a higher level of satisfaction compared with other orthodontic practice management software programs.
