Abstract/Summary:
At this time, very few flush air data systems, or FADS, are in use. Generally they are placed at the end of a blunt body, like the nose of an aircraft, for the maximum usable envelope. For single engine tractor propeller aircraft, this is not an option, and an alternative must be found. This paper features such a system, which is installed on the leading edge of the wing of a Cessna TR182 that has been calibrated to read angle of attack. Detailed in the following pages are a wind tunnel trade study, where the port position chordwise was examined, and the flight testing and eventual calibration of the Near Leading Edge Angle of Attack Sensor.
