| The purpose of the work detailed in this thesis was to create a parser for declarative sentences in the English language. Although initial attempts at this task were unsuccessful, further experimentation with stochastic parsing using a best-first search algorithm improved results. This algorithm was then applied to a large corpus, and again required improvement in the form of a generalization algorithm before significant progress could be made. |
