| This report presents the optimization of the forecasting module of Borschow Healthcare Logistics. A forecasting module helps maintain inventory control in the company by calculating a forecast. This compute estimates the quantity of inventory that a company needs to supply all their clients. The forecasting module optimized in this project is composed of a group of programs developed twelve years ago in Open Basic Language. The purpose of the project is achieved by optimizing the forecasting module and it was accomplished by improving different aspect of the module. This includes managing new demand events and events with demand zero, optimizing several formulas, adding historical files and considering different types of sales to increase the forecast accuracy. Forecast accuracy reports generated before and after the optimization demonstrated an increase by 9% in the accuracy of the forecast of all products proving that the changes made to the programs were effective. |
