From ground to table: An architectural response to food, farming and market culture in Wolfville, Nova Scotia

This thesis draws its inspiration and motivation from a careful consideration of both place and site. The thesis addresses a moment in Wolfville, Nova Scotia's historical trajectory.;The point of friction for the thesis is drawn at the intersection of two observations: that the area's farming industry is currently threatened by a rate of attrition that heavily outweighs the number of young farmers needed to sustain the industry; and that the consumer desire to become closer with the processes by which food reaches their table is manifested in the emergence and rapid growth of the town's Farmers' Market.;The resulting architectural speculation aims to be informed by both building and cultural histories so as to find and assume its position within both the landscape and place.
