Abstract/Summary:
In this project I study the energy savings effect, environmental pollutants of carbon dioxide (CO2) and system cost feasibility in a residential air conditioning system with the implementation of a solar absorbing cooling system. The designs of solar collectors are integrated to an absorbing cooling system. A comparison between conventional electric air conditioners and a solar absorbing cooling system was performed. The results reveal that the solar absorption cooling system provides energy savings of 3656 kWh energy yearly due to the highest electricity cost consumption in the electric air conditioner equipment. The study further reveals that with the system proposed, the emissions of pollutants would cease to generate 6,389 pounds of CO2.;A life cycling costing sensitivity analysis has also been performed. The results demonstrate that the solar system could be more cost effective under the economic conditions studied if 50% of the investment tax credit of the total cost of the system is deducted with a loan interest rate of 4.95% and 6%.
