Abstract/Summary:
In-service evaluation of industrial piping networks has always been a challenge for maintenance departments all around the world. The work presented in this document is part of a project that was initiated by X-Per-X, a company working in the Non Destructive testing field. The main goal of this project is to resolve the shortcomings related to classic non-destructive inspection techniques. In order to do so, X-Per-X has initiated a project named "Corroplus", which requires the programming of a tool that will collect and analyse inspection data. In order to provide a protocol that can be easily used by industrials, X-Per-X has proposed to calculate corrosion severity indexes. These severity indexes could be calculated for various pipes in an industrial piping network. It could then be utilized to classify pipes according to their degradation.;The main goal of this master degree project is to propose a protocol that can be followed in order to obtain the corrosion severity index for a given pipe. Because it can generate a lot of useful (and still unused) information, radiography is going to be the non-destructive technique that will be mainly analysed in this work.
