Research On Market Concentration Of Papermaking Industry In China Under Reforms On The Supply Side

Since the founding of the People's Republic of China,especially after the reform and opening up,China's papermaking industry has undergone earth-shaking changes,from the founding of the annual output of tens of thousands of tons to now become the world's largest paper country,but this does not mean that China has become a paper power.With the rapid development of China's papermaking industry,problems such as overcapacity and imperfect environmental protection system are gradually emerging.Meanwhile,the papermaking industry has a low market concentration,belongs to the competitive market structure,and there is excessive competition,which is not conducive to the transformation and upgrading of the papermaking industry.The introduction of supply-side reform at the end of 2015 provided a direction for the sustainable development of papermaking industry.After sorting out relevant literature,this paper firstly analyzes the present situation and development process of papermaking industry from five aspects,then expounds the measurement index of market concentration and market structure classification standard,to measure the market concentration and market structure of China's papermaking market from two dimensions of output and main business income.After that,the theoretical basis,background and introduction process of supply-side reform are sorted out.In addition,the paper focuses on the supply-side reform measures of "cutting capacity" and " fill short board " in the papermaking industry.Taking the supply-side reform as the background,a quantitative analysis model is established to empirically analyze the influencing factors of market concentration in China's papermaking industry,and the results show that the policy of cutting capacity has the most obvious influence.Then with the examples of Chenming paper summary analyzes the transformation and upgrading and bring enlightenment to other papermaking enterprises.Finally,some Suggestions are put forward to improve market concentration,such as merger and reorganization,rational planning of production capacity,supporting leading enterprises and improving environmental protection system,and points out the risks of a trade war between China and the United States and some of the problems that may arise as a result of increased market concentration.To sum up,from the perspective of supply-side reform,China's papermaking enterprises should organically combine macro policies and market mechanism,establish a market structure with moderate market concentration,effective competition and large enterprises as the leading enterprises,adjust the market structure,and promote the transformation and upgrading of papermaking industry and healthy,coordinated and sustainable development.
