Nowadays, with the rapid development of economy and society,The relationship between employees and managers, such as the “996”dispute,has become increasingly fierce. In the face of rapid market changes and increasingly fierce competition, many companies fail to establish an image of integrity in the outside world and cannot enhance cohesion internally.Enterprises urgently need management innovation and seek an effective management method that stimulates the enthusiasm and initiative of members.Since the 19 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China was held,General Secretary Xi Jinping has repeatedly emphasized the need to implement the “three stricts and three realities” in all work and life to form a habit,and“self-cultivation” has been given priority. Therefore, facing the new era of rapid changes, challenges and opportunities,we should return to the starting point, start from the most fundamental path of self-management,think about social phenomena, and may be able to explore new solutions. At present, the construction of China's local management theory is still at the exploratory stage, and Chinese management research is still incomplete and immature, which lags behind the development of leading Chinese management practices.Self-management has been an activity since ancient times, both in China and in the West. What this article examines is the self-management activity in traditional Chinese culture, which is not the same as the content in Western literature. The ancient Chinese self-management thought,as the basis of other management thoughts,is also in the first place.Only by deeply understanding the ancient Chinese self-management thought can we profoundly and comprehensively understand the entire ancient Chinese management thought system. The pre-Qin period is a golden period for the great development and explosion of Chinese ideology and culture. The views and theories of the philosophers to a certain extent represent the essence of the wisdom of ancient Chinese sages, and it is worthy of scholars to study and explore Chinese management wisdom from various perspectives. However, from the existing literature, scholars have paid more attention to the research of military thought, philosophy and ethics in the pre-Qin period, while the research in the field of self-managementthought is still weak.At the same time, the existing research on self-management thoughts in the pre-Qin period is very limited, and the content is not only scattered, but also cannot concentrate and comprehensively reflect the content and characteristics of the self-management thoughts in the pre-Qin period. Therefore,on the basis of existing research, this paper summarizes and organizes the self-management ideas put forward by scholars from various schools and pre-Qin eras through research methods such as literature research, systematic analysis, and management trait analysis. And put forward a relatively complete framework. From the three aspects of self-management elements,self-management goals, and self-management methods, the management trait analysis method Constructed three trait groups, and put forward the pre-Qin period self-management thoughts based on human rationality and will(practical rationality)as the management subject, self's heart,self-body,self-life(including life management and life planning)as management objects.Accompanied by the environment of self-solitude and dealing with others, through various means such as knowledge of the things, sincerity, inaction, and pragmatism, various goals such as the pursuit of ideal personality, inner spiritual pleasure, maintaining the value of life, and building a career are achieved.Based on the above, this article continues to clarify the differences between the schools of self-management thoughts in terms of individuals, groups, and views on justice and benefits, and further summarizes the three characteristics of self-management thoughts in the pre-Qin period, that is,the pursuit of an ideal realm,a focus on life cultivation and dialectical outlook on life.In addition,it expands the self-management thoughts of the pre-Qin period and connects with the actual management of modern enterprises. It puts forward three suggestions for managers of today's enterprises to play a role model, build a healthy corporate culture, and promote the practice of heart-based management. Therefore, this paper is divided into the following eight chapters: Chapter One explains the innovation of this article, focusing on the research background, significance, and basic concepts, research scope, ideas, and methods. The second chapter is literature review about the self-management thoughts of various schools in the pre-Qin period, laying a solid theoretical foundation for the paper. The third chapter introduces the elements of self-management in pre-Qin period, including management subject, management object and management environment.Chapter Four analyzes the goals of self-management thought during this period with three main schools of Confucianism,Taoism and Mohism as representatives. The fifth chapter summarizes the methods of Confucianism,Taoism,Mohism, and other schools(Legal and Sectarian etc.).The sixth chapter analyzes and summarizes three characteristics of self-management in the pre-Qin period. The seventh chapter puts forward the modern value of self-management thought in the pre-Qin period. The eighth chapter summarizes the paper, and points out the deficiencies and prospects the future research.
