With the rapid development of China's economy,the growth rate of China's economy has changed from the past high speed growth to medium-high speed growth,and there has been a big adjustment of macroeconomic policies.The supply-side structural reform,the new normal of the economy,and the expansion of "new infrastructure" investment all show that China's economy has entered the new normal.To adapt to the new normal,break through the traditional model of development,need to change the past dominated by export and investment growth,guide rational consumption to promote economic growth,the future of our country's macro policy will focus on the conscious on stimulating consumption and through consumption to promote economic growth,so the consumption growth of the country's economic growth has very important significance.The 19 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China made clear provisions to continuously improve the consumption promotion mechanism,so that the basic role of consumption can be reflected in the process of economic development.At present,there is an obvious trend of insufficient domestic consumption.Although the proportion of consumption in GDP has increased in recent years,the role of consumption in economic growth is still not enough,and the proportion of consumption is still not high,one of the important reasons is transportation infrastructure.Therefore,how to stimulate household consumption has become a pressing problem.This paper first sorts out the literature on the impact of transportation infrastructure on residents' consumption,then describes the current development status of railway and highway transportation infrastructure and residents' consumption status,and analyzes the function mechanism of transportation infrastructure on residents' consumption from the perspectives of transportation and economic growth.Then the demonstration analysis on the mechanism of action,the data is 2000-2017 panel data of 30 parts of the country,since the 2008 financial crisis impact on the residents' consumption is bigger,so this article use fixed effects model analysis respectively before and after the 2008 railway and highway transportation infrastructure influence on residents' consumption in different areas,the conclusion is:first,the traffic infrastructure has promoting effect on residents' consumption,and this effect will change with the development of transport infrastructure.The impact of transportation infrastructure on residents' consumption after 2008 is significantly greater than that before 2008.Expanding the construction of transportation infrastructure can improve its effect on residents' consumption.Second,there are regional differences in the impact of transportation infrastructure on residents' consumption.The impact of highway transportation infrastructure on residents' consumption in the eastern region is always greater than that in the central and western regions.However,railway transportation infrastructure has a greater impact on residents' consumption in the central and western regions.Thirdly,the impact of highway transportation infrastructure on residents' consumption is greater than that of railway transportation infrastructure,and the impact of highway transportation employment on residents' consumption is greater than that of railway transportation.Finally,according to the conclusion of the empirical analysis,relevant policy recommendations were put forward: first,actively improve transportation services;second,focus on building transportation infrastructure;third,strengthen the quality supervision of transportation infrastructure.Through the study of this paper,it is shown that transportation infrastructure has a great impact on household consumption,so when promoting economic growth in China,we should pay attention to the role of transportation infrastructure,so as to stabilize growth,protect the macro indicators of employment and fight against novel coronavirus epidemic will play a greater role.
