| Manufacturing agglomeration has an important impact on regional economic development and the enhancement of industrial competitiveness. It is an inevitable trend of industrial development. For a long time, because Yunnan is located in the western inland region, many problems exist in the manufacturing industry structure and industrial agglomeration of Yunnan province. The problems of unreasonable layout of manufacturing enterprises, the dispersion of small and medium-sized enterprises, and the uneven development of prefectures and states have always existed. This restricts the clustered development of Yunnan’s manufacturing industry, and also leads to the weak overall competitiveness of Yunnan’s manufacturing industry. With the proposal of the national “Belt and Road” initiative in 2013,Yunnan has changed from the end of reform and opening up to the frontier of opening up.In addition, the construction of the Bangladesh-China-India-Burma Economic Corridor, the Mekong Subregion Cooperation, the Western Development Strategy, and the Yangtze River Economic Belt Waiting for the overlap in Yunnan, the implementation of many national strategies and policies in Yunnan will inevitably have a profound and long-term impact on the evolution of the manufacturing cluster in Yunnan Province.Based on this, this article studies the evolution of manufacturing clusters in Yunnan Province under the background of the “Belt and Road” construction and the important factors that affect manufacturing clusters in this process. This article first sorts out the relevant theoretical basis and research literature of industrial agglomeration, and finds that the research on Yunnan’s manufacturing agglomeration under the background of the “Belt and Road”construction has great reference significance in terms of policy guidance.Secondly, the analysis of the industrial structure and the development of the manufacturing industry in Yunnan Province found that under the background of the “Belt and Road”,the status of the manufacturing industry in Yunnan has been significantly improved, and the manufacturing structure has also been temporarily optimized. The industry’s aggregation level was measured from 2001 to 2018,and the evolution of the manufacturing industry in Yunnan Province in the past 20 years was examined. It was found that the manufacturing industry in Yunnan Province as a whole was scattered, with a low degree of aggregation, and there were fewer industries with aggregation advantages.Among the industries with agglomerated advantages,resource-based industries are predominant.Under the background of the “Belt and Road” construction, the concentration level of the manufacturing sub-sectors in Yunnan Province has been improved, and the agglomeration advantages of some industries have begun to stand out. Finally, based on the analysis framework of the factors affecting industrial agglomeration based on neo-classical economics, economic geography, new economic geography, and institutional factors, and through the relevant studies of scholars, the analysis framework and indicators of the factors affecting manufacturing agglomeration in Yunnan Province were constructed.System, consulting the statistical yearbooks of Yunnan Province and cities in the past 20 years, using panel data models to conduct an empirical study on the influencing factors of manufacturing aggregation, and through the study found:First, the scale of manufacturing enterprises, local consumer demand, and the degree of openness to the outside world do not have a significant impact on the concentration of manufacturing in Yunnan;technology intensity, natural resource endowment, foreign direct investment, transportation conditions, local government protectionism, and manufacturing The influence of the six variables on the aggregation lag term on the overall aggregation level of the manufacturing industry in Yunnan Province is significant;Second, among the six factors that have a significant impact on the manufacturing aggregation in Yunnan, technology intensity and foreign direct investment have significantly promoted the manufacturing aggregation in Yunnan Province, and the technology intensity has a relatively weak promotion effect on manufacturing aggregation.R & D investment in the manufacturing industry is relatively low,and most of it is used in resource-intensive industries;foreign direct investment has the best effect on promoting the level of manufacturing aggregation in Yunnan Province, but Yunnan Province has not been very good when participating in the construction of the “Belt and Road” The institutional dividend of the “Belt and Road” initiative makes Yunnan Province have the natural advantage of establishing a gathering platform for foreign capital to enter the countries and regions along the “Belt and Road”,but this advantage has not been demonstrated, and even a retrogression has occurred.Third, natural resource endowment, transportation conditions, and local protectionism have a negative impact on the level of manufacturing aggregation, which has become a factor restricting the aggregation of manufacturing in Yunnan Province. The restriction of natural resource endowment on the aggregation of manufacturing industry may be due to the trap of Yunnan ’s “resource curse”;the decline in the proportion of local state-owned enterprises is conducive to the aggregation of manufacturing industry;the logistics cost in Yunnan is high, and the logistics cost constitutes the transportation cost.A large part of the high transportation costs restrict the aggregation of manufacturing in Yunnan;Fourth, according to the degree of openness to the outside world, that is,the proportion of total imports and exports in GDP does not have a significant impact on industrial agglomeration, but the conclusion that FDI promotes Yunnan ’s industrial agglomeration,we can learn that the problems of Yunnan ’s manufacturing industry “going out” have become obstacles Another factor in the concentration of provincial manufacturing. Finally, combined with the opportunities brought by the “Belt and Road” initiative to Yunnan Province,it puts forward targeted countermeasures to enhance the concentration of manufacturing in practice. |
