In recent years, the academic research on industrial agglomeration has not been simply carried out from the perspective of agglomeration scale.Instead,it measures industrial agglomeration from the aspects of diversity and professionalism, and further studies this diversity and professionalism on urban productivity.Impact.At present, how to formulate development plans for China’s cities to seek economic growth and increase urban productivity is of great significance to China’s economy from high-speed growth to high-quality development.First of all, this paper uses the data of 273 prefecture-level cities in China to quantitatively analyze the diversification and specialization of industrial agglomeration, and examines the level of specialization and diversification of industrial agglomeration from the perspective of urban scale. On the other hand,by measuring total factor productivity as a measure of urban productivity, the state of urban productivity was analyzed from the east, central, and west. The study found that cities with larger cities have higher levels of diversification, while cities with smaller cities have higher degree of specialization;urban productivity in the eastern, central and western regions has a step-down state.Secondly, this paper uses the spatial Dubin model to examine the panel data of 273 prefecture-level cities in China from 2010 to 2016,and verifies the theoretical mechanism of industrial agglomeration specialization and diversification affecting urban productivity, and studies its impact effect. The empirical results show that the level of industrial specialization has a negative impact on the productivity of cities in the region, but promotes the productivity of cities in neighboring regions. The possible reason is that on the one hand, the level of industrial specialization in this region is relatively high, which reflects to a certain extent that the industrial structure is single and unreasonable, and the externalities of industrial agglomeration are not fully exerted, thereby curbing the resource allocation efficiency and utilization efficiency of the region. On the other hand, the highly specialized industry in the region has formed a core competitive advantage, promoted the development of related industries in neighboring regions to improve the diversification level, thereby improving the productivity of neighboring cities, and improving the efficiency of regional resource allocation in the long-term cooperation process. And use efficiency. The level of industrial diversification has a positive impact on the productivity of cities in the region and promotes the productivity of cities in neighboring regions. The possible reason is that the high level of diversification in the region is conducive to sharing the infrastructure, information and service markets between enterprises and different types of industries, attracting enterprises and workers to enter, improving the efficiency and concentration of urban agglomeration, thereby improving local and Urban productivity in its neighbourhood. Finally,we made an overall evaluation and policy recommendations for the specialization and diversification of industrial agglomeration in China.
