The assembly workshop in this case is the main production workshop of D company.As a representative rail transit equipment manufacturing company in China,The D company can obviously be seen as an epitome of China's manufacturing industry.With the development of The Times,the market competition is more increasingly fierce,how to reduce the operating cost of the company,and how to improve the competitiveness of products is the issue that every manufacturing enterprise concerned about;Nowadays,with the arrival of the intelligent technology age,manufacturing enterprises are also facing the pressure brought by the change of production mode.How to maintain the healthy development of enterprises in upgrading is particularly important.As an important part of the enterprise production management,the inventory management plays the role of adhesive,not only which guarantees the efficient operation of the enterprise by satisfying the sufficient supply of production materials,but also which takes into account the operation cost of the enterprise.so it is exactly the best entry point to solve a series of management problems in the case.Different from previous studies that take inventory management as a separate module,this case study focuses on exploring,analyzing and solving problems related to the inventory management in the case with the thinking of system engineering,so as to improve the operation status of D company's assembly workshop.Firstly,the case is modeled by using the interpretive structure model.On the basis of the model,the importance of the inventory management in production and operation of D company's assembly workshop is sure.And these five key factors that lead to poor inventory supply in the assembly workshop are clarified.These five key factors that are The Management Information System,the Full Kits Rate,the Lean Production,the On-time delivery and the equipment,will stretch out five inventory management core problems.Then,in the case analysis and improvement strategy,several important principles of system engineering are referenced.And systematic improvement Suggestions are put forward for five core problems.These suggestions include enhancing the ability of acquiring and circulating the underlying data,considering matching production from the front end of management,Planned reduction of safety inventory,Improving management's awareness of timely delivery and developing the flexibility and response speed of the inventory module.Finally,a comprehensive summary of the case study is made,and the shortcomings and limitations of this case study are pointed out,which indicates the direction for the future research.
