Poverty is a serious challenge that has been faced in the course of human history development, and it is also a major problem that China has been working on for a long time.Since the reform and opening up in 1978,the Chinese government has led and implemented a series of ambitious poverty reduction policies. In the report of the 19 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,President Xi pointed out that it is necessary to resolutely win the fight against poverty.By 2020,the poor will be fully lifted out of poverty.Based on this, this paper studies the relationship between rural infrastructure and poverty alleviation, hoping to provide certain policy ideas for comprehensive poverty alleviation. In this paper,we use the household level data of China Family Tracking Survey Data(CFPS)in 2012 and 2014,and use the research and quantitative analysis to reduce the poverty of rural infrastructure in 24 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions. An empirical study was conducted. The distance from the nearest hardened road and the availability of tap water infrastructure were selected as the proxy variables of the infrastructure.Based on the estimation of poverty incidence, other poverty indices, the maximum likelihood estimation method was used.Regression analysis was carried out,and the robustness test of the instrumental variables was carried out by selecting the length of the passage, the length of the water, and the policy preference index. The empirical research in this paper finds that the incidence of rural poverty in 2014 was 16.4% calculated using the data from the Chinese Family Tracking Survey. The incidence of rural poverty in the western region is higher and the incidence of poverty is more serious.Guizhou,Sichuan Poverty levels in other provinces are more serious;there is a negative correlation between the improvement of road infrastructure and poverty reduction. For every 1km increase in the distance between a rural family and the nearest hardened road, the probability of this family falling into poverty increases by 1.1%.Tap water infrastructure can significantly reduce the probability and extent of poverty, and reduce the probability of rural households falling into poverty by 17.2%.Therefore,improving the availability of rural infrastructure will improve the living standards of rural families and help rural poor families escape poverty.
