In recent years,the government has issued a series of policies to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship,and the whole society has witnessed an upsurge of "mass entrepreneurship and mass innovation".New ventures have sprung up as the times require and emerge in endlessly.According to the report of Global Entrepreneurship Monitor,China's entrepreneurial activity and willingness have always been in the leading position in the world.However,due to the complexity of the entrepreneurial environment and the scarcity of entrepreneurial resources,the success rate of entrepreneurship is generally low,and few new ventures can really survive and grow smoothly.Even many enterprises are facing the risk of bankruptcy before they have passed the start-up period.The low survival rate of start-ups restricts the start-up activities,and the short life span of enterprises also inhibits the entrepreneurial enthusiasm of many entrepreneurs.Due to the double disadvantages of "new-born weakness" and "small but weak",the "resource constraint" has become the key factor that affects the success of new ventures in our country in crossing the "death trap".As a business model innovation that breaks through the resource constraint,the piecing together of entrepreneurial resources provides a brand-new mode of thinking for the survival and development of new ventures.Based on the perspective of resource piecing together,this paper explores the mechanism of entrepreneurial resource piecing together on the performance of new ventures,and explores the mediating role of failure learning between resource piecing together and the performance of new ventures from the perspectives of cognitive change and capability improvement.In addition,this paper also takes into account the impact of the differences in entrepreneurial subject's thinking modes on entrepreneurial activities,and tests whether counterfactual thinking can play a moderating role between resource piecing together and the performance of new ventures from both the up and down levels.Finally,it constructs a research framework of enterprise performance from three levels: individual,enterprise and environment.In order to test the above theoretical model and relevant assumptions,this paper selects 320 new ventures in the Yangtze River Delta region with a survival time of less than 8 years for investigation and empirical data are collected through questionnaire survey.The investigated subjects are all key members of the entrepreneurial team of new ventures.Then,this paper uses SPSS20.0 and AMOS20.0 software for empirical analysis,adopts hierarchical regression method to test the hypothesis of this paper,and then introduces qualitative analysis comparison method,and uses fsQCA to explore the multi-factor combination effect that affects the performance of new ventures.Through the empirical analysis of 320 samples,the conclusion of this study is as follows:(1)The patchwork of entrepreneurial resources has a significant positive impact on the performance of new ventures;(2)The piecing together of entrepreneurial resources has a significant positive effect on failed learning;(3)Failure learning has a significant positive impact on the performance of new ventures;(4)Failure learning has a partial mediating effect between resource piecing together and enterprise performance;(5)Upward and downward counterfactual thinking has a positive moderating effect between resource piecing together and enterprise performance;(6)Upward counterfactual thinking is a necessary condition for new ventures to achieve high performance;(7)The lack of resources piecing together and failure learning are the main reasons for new ventures to achieve non-high performance.Once these two elements are missing,counterfactual thinking cannot play its due role in the performance configuration of enterprises.Finally,according to the research conclusion,this paper puts forward corresponding countermeasures and suggestions to enterprise managers,mainly including the following three levels:(1)Take immediate actions to break through resource constraints and break through the original resource structure by means of piecing together resources.(2)Set up a "failure view" oriented by learning,that is,want to learn,learn well and learn well.(3)Reasonable balance and comprehensive application of all pre-factors of enterprise performance to avoid the trap of non-high performance.
