The quantity and proportion of commodities exchanged are determined by their respective values,so the essence of international trade is the transnational exchange of labor. However, the difference between the trade among the world and in one country is that worldwide exchange includes two deviations, which are the deviation between national value and international value and the deviation between international value and international production price. The former reflects the difference of production efficiency, while the latter depicts the international value transfer. With the use the World Input-Output Table and TIVA data, this paper focus on the calculation of the GVC index as well as Marxist trade scale and power index. The paper finds that the production efficiency of China is lower than the world average with the downstream position in the global value chain. The position index of China in the GVC is low and has followed a “V-shaped” development trend, which is correlated with the disparity between the proportion of indirect exports of value added and the proportion of foreign value added. It is important to improve the production efficiency of different industries and increase the proportion of indirect exports of value added to promote the trade power in China. |
