As a traditional Chinese industry,garment industry plays an important part in China's national economy.Since the reform and opening up,China has become the world's largest garment production and sales country.Clothing export trade is the main source of China's foreign exchange earnings.In recent years,with the increasing trade between China and other countries,the strength of China's garment manufacturing industry has become increasingly prominent.More garment brands set up factories and even creative design centers there.Russia is also an indispensable and important participant in the garment industry.Over the past two decades,Russia has been an important export market for Chinese garment products.In bilateral trade,garment products have always held a large proportion and played an important role in the sustainable and stable development of bilateral economic and trade cooperation.The garment trade between China and Russia is highly complementary and has great potential for development.Russia is short of cotton and wool raw materials,and its obsolete textile processing technology,backward equipment and insufficient production capacity of clothing and other kinds of manufactured goods make it impossible for Russian garment industry to meet the domestic market demand.Chinese clothing holds a considerable proportion of the Russian market and has a relatively fixed consumer group.Inexpensive and high-quality Chinese products have become the first choice for the middle-and lower-income groups in Russia.Russia's economy has enjoyed rapid growth since 1998,and then suffered from the economic crisis of2014-2016.These changes have altered the preferences of Russian consumers and brought new challenges and opportunities to Chinese exporters.At present,Chinese enterprises should improve their marketing strategies to maintain market share and attract new consumers,so as to enhance the competitiveness of Chinese clothing products in the Russian market.This thesis makes an attempt to study and analyze the history and current situation of economic and cultural cooperation between China and Russia,the development of the two countries' garment industry,as well as the current situation in the Russian clothing market.Finally,some suggestions on the marketing strategy of Chinese garment enterprises exporting to Russia are put forward.
