Rural tourism is an important approach in the current work of "agriculture, rural areas, and farmers" in China, and it has gradually become an important driving force for China’s key policies, such as rural revitalization, poverty alleviation, urban and rural development, new urbanization and beautiful rural construction.Rural tourism has entered the top-level design of the political decision-making of the central committee of the Communist Party of China and the central government of China and had gradually become a national strategy.Rural tourism has made great contributions to improving the industrial chain and value chain of agriculture, solving the problems of rural ecological environment, and promoting farmers to get rid of poverty and become rich.Among various types of rural tourism, those city-based developing types have the earliest history, the widest development scale, and the most mature development status at present. This type of rural tourism has become the mainstream and main body of China’s rural tourism market. The rural tourism and leisure agriculture in the suburbs of the first and second-tier cities are typical representatives. At present, rural tourism in the suburbs has met some problems, such as low business income and profit rate, serious homogenization, serious impact on the ecological environment, the development of community and group contradictions, etc. These problems affect the healthy development of rural tourism in the suburbs. In order to clarify the current situation and existing problems of rural tourism development in the suburbs of big cities, and to explore the direction and path of sustainable development of rural tourism in the suburbs of big cities, this study intends to study the tourism impact perception of rural residents in the suburbs of big cities,as well as its causes. This study takes the theory of urban geography, tourism geography, culturalgeography, and other related disciplines as the theoretical background, and based on the existing research of sense of place, sustainable tourism perception, tourism development expectation and residents’ tourism satisfaction.Firstly, this study constructs the hypothesis of the interaction among the factors such as the sense of place, sustainable tourism perception, the expectation of tourism development, and the residents’ tourism satisfaction. The purpose of this study is to explore the content, structure, and influencing factors of the perception of suburban rural tourism impacts.Secondly, this study constructs the measurement index system of four research variables, and develops the measurement items and questionnaire with high reliability and validity by using the combinative research method of qualitative and quantitative. Finally, this study selects the megacity of China,Wuhan as the research object, and taking the typical rural tourism villages in four administrative regions, namely Huangpi District,Jiangxia District.Caidian District, and Dongxihu District,as the research sites.Combined with the physical and geographical conditions of the case area and the general situation of economic and social development, the authors went to these sites for the household survey. This study constructs a structural equation model of tourism impact perception and its influencing factors, analyzed the content of tourism impact perception, and the internal relationship between various factors,as well as the strength of the relationship between influencing factors and tourism impact perception. At the end of this study, some countermeasures and suggestions are put forward to solve the problems of rural tourism development and to enhance the sustainable development ability of rural tourism in the suburbs of metropolitans.Through the above research results, the following conclusions are drawn:(1)based on the literature review, this study summarizes and uncovered the content of tourism impact perception of rural residents in the suburbs of metropolitans, both as residents’satisfaction and sustainable tourism perception(including economic, social culture, environment, system and other dimensions);(2)through literature review, this paper summarizes and found the influencing factors of rural residents’ tourism impact perceptions in the suburbs of big cities, which are local sense(including place dependence, place attachment and place identity)and tourism development expectation;(3)the place dependence, place identity and place attachment of suburban residents in big cities are the components of residents’ sense of place, among which place identity is the most significant aspect of rural residents’ local sense;(4)economic impact is the most active and significant aspect of rural tourism impacts in the suburbs, and it also refers to the most significant objects that influenced by the factors such as the sense of place and the expectation of tourism development.Economical dimension is also the biggest influence factor that affects the satisfaction of rural residents to tourism development;(5)the sense of place and the expectation of tourism development of rural residents indirectly affect the satisfaction of residents through the perception of sustainable tourism.
