Research On The Development Situation And Countermeasures Of Vegetable Industry In Changshu City

Since vegetables serve as a kind of necessity in human's daily diet,the growth on its consumption amount and type is defined as one of the significant indicator to the improvement of people's living standard.With the promotion of economic level,the consumption amount of vegetables in China including Changshu city keeps increasing year by years.The paper started from an introduction to the present situation of Changshu vegetable industry from different perspectives of natural environment,location,industry overview,planting area,yield,staff profile,industrial technologies and other aspects through various method,such as literature inquiry,on-site investigation and comparative analysis.According to the description of Changshu,the paper then applies SWOT model analysis to conclude the regional advantages and opportunities,taking its superior natural environment and geographical condition,solid foundation of vegetable industry,a good beginning for large-scale production,outstanding brand establishment,excellent technologies,rich characteristic vegetable resources,a great demand on vegetables,a promising prospect of featured health-care vegetable and a rapid expansion of leisure tourism into account.Besides,there are also many development limits including labor shortage,serious land issues,short duration of contracting right,product quality and safety problems,weak vegetable protection policies,structural and localized contradiction between supply and demand,weak seed industry and unstable vegetable market.Based on the actual situation of the vegetable industry in this city and learned from experiences of several vegetable developed countries,regions and cities across the world,this paper further tries to put forward with a proposal to enhance the development of protected vegetables and promote agricultural technology department to better perform their duties.
