For a long time, medical expenditures have remained high and medical accidents have occurred frequently due to doctors' disoperation, improper medical procedures,or improper medications. With medical revolution getting deeper, clinical pathway was proposed as a norm of clinical management, which is to standardize the diagnosis and treatment behavior, guarantee medical quality and medical safety, and minimize medical costs. However, clinical pathway is usually designed to treat a single disease and cannot cope with treatment of patients with comorbidities. As the population aging, chronic diseases have been increasing and comorbidities have been increasing. In order to solve the problem of clinical pathway for comorbidities, someone proposed a method that integrate multiple clinical pathways, which is adopted by most researchers in the domain. However, the current research on the merging of clinical pathways is still in its infancy. For detection and resolution of conflicts in clinical path merging, there are still limitations on the knowledge of time level and the limitations of excessive dependence on rules, which limits the practicability and flexibility of the method. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a merging method of clinical pathway based on the theory of simple time problem(STP),transforming the clinical path merging problem into a solution problem of STP,which can detect and resolve conflicts on the dimension of time, avoid unnecessary conflict resolution, optimize the merging process, improve the merge efficiency, and increase the practicality of the method. In addition, the method can also ignore specific conflicts according to the doctor's decision if the conflict cannot be avoided, and add a medical monitoring task to the conflict to remind the doctor to monitor and manage the patient's physical state strictly during the conflict occurring. Therefore, merging of clinical pathways can be successfully completed with safety, which reduces the dependence of method fusion rules and increases the flexibility of the method. We mainly discusses the basic concepts and theoretical techniques involved in the clinical path fusion method. Then we discuss the overall framework of merging method, modeling methods of each module, and conflict detection and resolution process, and then uses the “diabetes management path” and "Clinical Pathway of Brain Tumor Surgery" as a case study to verify the method of this article, and use "diabetes combined with brain tumor surgery" clinical statistical research data to prove the safety and reliability of this method. Finally,we discusses the limitations of this research and future work.
