A city is the centripetal force that integrates the economy, culture, politics and information of a region.Due to the vastness of China, the complex number of agricultural population and the unbalanced distribution of urban scale, the financial layout of the eastern, central and western regions of the Chinese mainland is somewhat different from each other. Therefore,it has become an inevitable trend to study the relationship between urban scale and economic growth. Therefore, under the guidance of spatial econometrics, this paper adopts panel data model and spatial panel model to empirically analyze the impact of urban scale on economic growth in the east, middle and west regions of mainland China. In this paper, the urban scale distribution of 31 provinces, cities and autonomous regions in mainland China from 2005 to 2016 is divided into three major urban scale regions, namely the east, the middle and the west. The main work of this paper is as follows: at the beginning,it briefly describes the research status of urban scale and economic growth in China, and summarizes the literature at home and abroad. This paper discusses the specific ideas and research characteristics; In addition, the related concepts and theories of urban scale, urban scale and economic growth are briefly introduced. After that, the effects of urban scale on economic growth in the eastern, central and western regions of China are investigated by using panel econometric estimation and spatial econometric research. In order to avoid the limitations of the traditional panel data model, this paper adopts the traditional panel data model combined with the spatial effect to improve the feasibility of the empirical model more effectively and measure the spatial correlation between the studied samples. At the end of the text, the common panel data model and spatial data model are compared and analyzed, and policy Suggestions are proposed.First, according to the results of the general panel data model, the urban scale in the east, central and west of the Chinese mainland has a positive effect on economic growth, indicating that the relationship between urban scale and economic growth is optimistic. The economic growth rate of the central and western regions is obviously lower than that of the eastern regions, which has something to do with the fact that the eastern region has been the economic development center in China's history. The level of the service industry, health structure, government management and other control variables are conducive to economic growth to varying degrees. In addition, after the investment of space elements in the eastern, central and western regions of mainland China, the three economic zones in China show different spatial spillover effects in the face of changes in urban scale, and the economic development in the three regions is unbalanced. In the face of the influence of other factors, such as service industry, health structure and government management, different infectious factors show distinctive characteristics due to spatial spillover effect. In general, the economic prosperity of China's three financial districts is obviously different from each other. The economic effect of the change of urban scale on the eastern part of mainland China is smaller than that of the central and western parts. This shows that the scale of cities in the eastern region has been in a stage of stable development, with less progress and innovation than the central and western regions.Industrial transfer in developed regions, high housing prices, pressure on the environment and employment, lack of public services and other problems, after years of accumulation, the continuous growth of population in the eastern region has been restrained, but the central and western regions have become more attractive. In order to solve the problem of the alienation of business trip in China's economic growth,it is necessary to establish a differentiated support system according to the production elements in different regions. The development of service industry in three regions of China is at a low level of steady equilibrium and develops slowly.Although there is a certain degree of economic growth to promote, but the extent is small, need to further through good policies to bring more benefits.
