A Study Of The Impetus Mechanism Of Urban Spatial Expansion Based On The Driving Of Tourism

Urbanization is an inevitable course of modernization,and the expansion of urban space is an inevitable product of the process of urbanization in China.Urban space will be further expanded in the future,and the factors that drive its expansion will be more comprehensive and diversified.Therefore,the research in the mechanism of the driving forces of urban space expansion has become a hot topic in urban geography and other relevant disciplines.As an important link of economic development,the role that tourism plays in urban construction has become increasingly significant,which has directly or indirectly facilitated urbanization construction and promoted the evolution of the urban form.Two major systems,which are tourism industry development and urban space form,are considered as the objects of research in this paper to analyze the relations of their interaction.Photoshop platform is comprehensively adopted to process Google Earth satellite imagery,through which,a research is conducted in the process and characteristics of the evolution of different urban space forms from two categories of tourism space,namely,urban functional space(tourist leisure-based site,tourist culture-based site,tourist commerce-based site and urban complex-based site)and urban economical space(tourist attraction and theme park).An emphasis is placed on the microscopic exploration in this paper,in which,the transition of six cities based on tourism development and the external urban space form is systematically analyzed respectively.These six cities include Wuxi,Xuzhou,Jurong,Nantong,Dunhuang and Guangzhou.Furthermore,a research is conducted in the evolution of the internal structure of six tourism spaces,including Changguangxi National Wetland Park,surroundings of Yunlong Lake Scenic Area,Nanjing East Outlets,Wanda Cultural Tourism City,Mogao Grottoes and Chime-Long Paradise.Based on the integration of theoretical analysis and case analysis,the role that tourism plays in driving the expansion of urban space is concluded,as well as the general route that’s inferior to space expansion,which can be categorized into three types,namely,circle expansion,axial expansion and saltatory expansion.The forces that drive the expansion of the same city in different stages and the same stage in different cities are distinct.Furthermore,there are currently a series of limiting factors which make it quite challenging to better adapt to the urban development in the future.Tourism will be an important factor that drives the future expansion of urban space.
