Along with the rapid development of economic globalization and further deepening of China's Reform and Opening Policy,China is increasingly in contact with the world.As foreign investment continues to be introduced into China,more and more Chinese enterprises go abroad to seek for expansion,which brings Chinese companies not only more opportunities but also challenges.In the process of transnational operations,Chinese companies always encounter a variety of cross-cultural conflicts.If handled properly,these conflicts will promote the internationalization of enterprises and enhance the vitality of enterprises.However,if the conflicts are not handled in a proper way,they will hinder the smooth implementation of overseas management policies of Chinese companies and even affected the daily operations.In recent years,how to solve cross-cultural conflicts and conduct effective cross-cultural management in a multinational corporation has been an issue getting much attention from researches in business management,cross culture and other fields,and researches on this topic has been deepened and improved.This paper reports on an empirical study focusing on one important aspect of organizational behavior –cross-cultural conflict management by taking Baocheng International Group in Vietnam as an example with the purpose of finding out the current cross-cultural conflicts in Baocheng,employees' attitudes towards conflicts and preference of conflict management style.On the basis of the study,a few possible suggestions would be put forward for better cross-cultural conflict management of companies like Baocheng International Group.To accomplish this research,the author conducted both face to face interviews and online quantitative surveys.For the interview,two questions were conducted to investigate the conflicts existing in Baocheng and employees' attitudes towards the conflicts.For the survey,96 responses were collected,out of which 91 are valid,with 48 for Chinese and 43 for Vietnamese.The conclusions include that cross-cultural conflicts exist in Baocheng in various aspects and the most prominent ones are conflicts in decision-making,conflicts inhuman resources,conflicts in values,conflicts in management mode and conflicts in behavioral patterns.Due to cultural differences,attitudes towards conflicts between Chinese and Vietnamese employees are different.With regard to conflict management style,the results of the questionnaire show that the Chinese and Vietnamese employees have certain differences in the style of conflict management,but they are generally similar,and conflict management style is closely related to the cultural differences between the two countries.Based on the analysis,suggestions from three aspects are put forward,which are recognizing cross-cultural conflicts,handling cross-cultural conflicts correctly and learning to use cross-cultural conflicts effectively.
