The Relationship Among Leadership Style,Dynamic Capabilities And Innovation Performance

At present,the dynamic change in external environment pose huge challenges on the development of enterprises.Enterprises should improve their competitive advantages through continuous innovation,and they not only need to obtain new resources and capabilities during this process,but also should foster dynamic capabilities which could coordinate and reconstruct current resources.Therefore,the research topics in innovation performance and dynamic capabilities areas will grasp lots of attention.According to current research,leadership style will have a significant impact on innovation performance,and it is worth discussing whether leadership style will influence dynamic capabilities and whether dynamic capabilities plays a role in the relationship between leadership style and innovation performance.Based on the existing theoretical and empirical studies,this study builds the research model as ‘leadership style-dynamic capabilities-innovation performance’ in order to explore the relationship among the three factors.This study chooses the enterprises which the MBA students of Shanghai Jiao Tong University work in,and examines the impact of leadership style on innovation performance and dynamic capabilities,and whether dynamic capabilities plays a mediating role in the relationship between leadership style and innovation performance.The research results of multiple regression analysis prove that transactional leadership will have a positive impact on enterprises’ innovation performance,and dynamic capabilities play a complete mediating role in this process.The influence of transformational leadership on innovation performance is more significant,while dynamic capabilities would play a partly mediating role in this relationship.Besides,dynamic capabilities would influence innovation performance positively,and leadership styles are likely to have an impact on dynamic capabilities.The research results of this study could help enterprise improve their innovation performance and develop dynamic capabilities through adjusting leadership style.
