With The New Normal economic in China,on one hand, the state vigorously advocates independent innovation and industrial transformation and upgrading,on the other hand, enterprises also have self-needs of transformation and upgrading because of increasingly changing complex business environment. The micro-foothold of national industrial upgrading lies in the transformation and upgrading of enterprises,so the transformation and upgrading of enterprises is an urgent and important requirement in reality. In academia, most of the research on transformation and upgrading comes from domestic, because Chinese market is constantly upgrading. Therefore, enterprises need to constantly adjust themselves.Because of transitional economic environment, the institutional environment of the Chinese market is quite different from that of the western countries. When enterprises choose to transform and upgrade, what role does the imperfect institutional environment play on it? How do enterprises deal with these institutional pressures from different subjects? The more uncertain the institutional environment is,the more enterprises tend to be government-related.How do enterprises deal with the relationship with the government in the process of enterprise transformation and upgrading? Therefore, based on the reality and academic research, this study puts forward the research on enterprise transformation and upgrading, and incorporates China's institutional environment into the research framework.Institutional factors are an important factor that can't be ignored in Chinese market environment.Institutional factors must be taken into account when enterprises make strategic choices in such an environment. At the same time, this study pays attention to the importance of TMT in strategy change.Institutions are invisible and it is important that TMT to transform external institutional factors into strategic choices. Therefore, the study incorporates cognitive flexibility of TMT and explores how external institutional factors at the cognitive level can ultimately be transformed into the results of enterprise transformation and upgrading. In this study,212 sample data were collected from enterprises with multiple ownership.Combining literature research, questionnaire survey and data analysis, the relationship between institutional pressure, institutional status, cognitive flexibility and enterprise transformation and upgrading was tested one by one by using SPSS20.0 and other analytical tools. The empirical results show that:(1)institutional pressure and its three dimensions(regulatory pressure, normative pressure and cognitive pressure, the same below)have significant positive effects on the transformation and upgrading of enterprises,of which normative pressure is the most obvious;(2)institutional status has a significant positive impact on the transformation and upgrading of enterprises;(3)cognitive flexibility plays a positive regulatory role between institutional pressure including its three dimensions and enterprise transformation and upgrading. Finally, this study fully explained and discussed the results of hypothesis testing.Based on this, suggestions were put forward for enterprise management practices, with a view to provide reference for the transformation and upgrading of Chinese enterprises.
