| It is generally believed that the free trade zone will promote the foreign trade of the surrounding areas.The China(Shanghai)Pilot Free Trade Zone,as the first free trade zone in China,has been established for five years.How does it affect the foreign trade of the Yangtze River Delta(Shanghai,Jiangsu,Zhejiang and Anhui Provinces)?By comparing and analyzing the foreign trade situation of the Yangtze River Delta in the two periods before and after the establishment of the China(Shanghai)Pilot Free Trade Zone(2013),it is found that the growth rate of foreign trade in the Yangtze River Delta has changed from lower than the national level to higher than the national level.At the level,the decline in foreign trade dependence of the Yangtze River Delta slowed down,and Shanghai’ s total exports turned from growth to decline.Zhejiang’ s ranking in the Yangtze River Delta’ s foreign trade dependence increased,and the proportion of foreign trade in the four provinces and cities in the Yangtze River Delta has been stabilized by slight fluctuations.The positive impact of the China(Shanghai)Pilot Free Trade Zone on foreign trade in the Yangtze River Delta region may be through the accumulation of capital to promote industrial upgrading in the Yangtze River Delta region,the expansion of the business scope of enterprises in the free trade zone,and the promotion of economies of scale and radiation in the Yangtze River Delta region.At the same time,the China(Shanghai)Pilot Free Trade Zone may have a negative impact on the foreign trade of the Yangtze River Delta by increasing the operating costs of export enterprises and causing imbalances in the distribution of capital elements in the Yangtze River Delta region.Through the empirical analysis of the construction of the“counter factual”model,it is found that the China(Shanghai)Pilot Free Trade Zone has a positive effect on the import of the Yangtze River Delta and has an inhibitory effect on the export of the Yangtze River Delta,and its promotion effect on the Yangtze River Delta imports is greater than the suppression of exports.On the whole,it promoted the development of foreign trade in the Yangtze River Delta.In order to play the role of the free trade zone in promoting foreign trade in the surrounding areas,on the one hand,the China(Shanghai)Pilot Free Trade Zone should continue to take advantages of the free trade zone.On the other hand,it should optimize the industries in the Yangtze River Delta region. |
