Regional Economic Difference Change In Fujian Province Under The Development Strategy Of The Economic Zone On The West Side Of The Straits

Since entering the new century,China's economy has entered the era of rapid development.The trend of economic regionalization is increasingly obvious,but at the same time,the imbalance of regional development is also becoming more and more serious.Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Urban Agglomeration,the Yangtze River Delta Economic Zone and the Pearl River Delta Economic Zone in the eastern coastal areas of our country are flourishing.In the process,Fujian province,which is located in the Yangtze River Delta Economic Zone and the Pearl River Delta Economic Zone,is gradually marginalized.In order to change this situation,Fujian province put forward the strategy of construction of the Economic Zone on the west side of the Straits in 2004,and to narrow the gap between the developed areas in the eastern coastal areas and realize the overall regional development.By the end of 2015,the development strategy of the Economic Zone on the west side of the Straits has been put forward for 11 years.Under this background,analysis from the perspective of regional economic differences,whether the development difference among the cities in Fujian province has narrowed,whether the economic differences among Fujian province and the Yangtze River Delta Economic Zone and Pearl River Delta Economic Zone is reduced.And analysis the driving mechanism of the development strategy to the development of regional economy,which is the focus of this research.Firstly,selecting the per capita GDP as variable index to measure the regional economic difference,using Theil index and Gini coefficient and location quotient to analyze the changing trend of economic development gap of Fujian province,and the regional economic differences of Fujian province and the Yangtze River Delta Economic Zone and the Pearl River Delta Economic Zone in the past 1995-2015 years.Secondly,using the panel data model to analyze the policy driving mechanism of economic development.The result shows that,first,after the implementation of strategy,the convergence trend of regional economic disparity is significant.The internal development differences in Southeast Fujian,and the difference between the southeast Fujian and the northwest of Fujian are the main factors that causes the economic development of Fujian province.The regional development of the second industry and the third industry has a significant impact on the change of the overall difference in Fujian province.Second,the strategy has made some achievements in narrowing the development gap between Fujian province and the Yangtze River Delta Economic Zone and the Pearl River Delta economic zone.However,compared with them,there is still a problem of unreasonable industrial structure in Fujian province.Therefore,in the future development,Fujian province also needs to upgrade the industry to further optimize the industrial structure.Third,the panel data model shows that the strategy effectively promoted the economic growth of Fujian province,and narrowed the development gap between Fujian province and the Yangtze River Delta Economic Zone and the Pearl River Delta economic zone.In addition,compared with the Yangtze River Delta Economic Zone and the Pearl River Delta Eonomic Zone,the strategy of the Economic Zone on the west side of the Straits has made notable achievements in increasing physical capital investment and improving transport infrastructure,but the impact on the upgrading of human capital is not obvious.
