As population growth and demand expand, global production and consumption continue to increase, resulting waste market continues to expand, making waste trade become a huge global industry, which poses a significant challenges to environmental quality, environmental policy and the effectiveness of the International Environmental Agreement(IEA).With the development of the world's communication technology, the completion of a product is likely to be completed by many countries, which reflects one country's status of international labour division. The the total value of trade can no longer reflect the situation of a country's import and export trade, and the measurement of global value chain position based on the added value has become a hot issue of research. The main purpose of this paper is to study the current status of China's waste trade under the global value chain and the factors that influence waste trade.First of all, this paper describes the status of China's recycling and utilization of waste, and the current status of the waste import market, including total imports, import structure and import unit prices.Through the value-added data of OECD in 43 countries from 2000 to 2015,the global value chain position index of each country's manufacturing industry was calculated. Then, through the scatter chart of the GVC position index and waste trade, the relationship between global value chain position and waste trade is understood.Based on the pollution paradise theory and other scholars' research, seven waste trade influencing factors are selected: global value chain position, environmental regulation,GDP unit energy consumption, economic level, factor endowment, openness, technical level;through empirical tests, analyze how these factors impact the value of waste imports. Finally, combining the analysis of the global value chain position and the import price of waste, the paper puts forward some suggestions on how to solve the problems of China's waste trade, which can be used for reference for China's environmental improvement and recycling of imported waste. The results of this paper can help to judge the status of China's manufacturing industry in the global value chain, and also help explain the reasons for the change of waste import value, and also provide some reference for future research on waste import trade industry.
