| The urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River which spans Hubei,Hunan and Jiangxi provinces,covers the urban agglomeration around Poyang Lake,Wuhan Economic Circle and the urban agglomeration around Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan and is one of the supports of the three large-span regional urban agglomerations in the Yangtze River Economic Belt.Discussing the comprehensive economic development of urban agglomerations in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River,analyzing the spatial and temporal differences of urban agglomerations’ spatial efficiency and studying the main influencing factors of spatial efficiency can not only provide some reference opinions for the subsequent development planning of urban agglomerations in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River,but also provide some reference for the related research of other urban agglomerations.On the basis of reviewing the relevant literature at home and abroad,this paper defined the actual meaning of spatial efficiency of urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River,constructed the index system of spatial efficiency from the perspective of input and output,measured and analyzed spatial efficiency by means of super-efficiency DEA model,Arc GIS software and Geoda software,and judged the overall and internal economic development quality of urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River.Firstly,the overall situation of the urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River from 2000 to 2016 is calculated and analyzed,and the urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River was divided into three parts: the urban agglomeration around Poyang Lake,the economic circle of Wuhan and the urban agglomeration around Changsha,Zhuzhou and Xiangtan,and then analyzed its spatial efficiency,scale efficiency and whether the scale rewarded increases or decreases.Secondly,the spatial efficiency distribution patterns of 28 cities in the middle Yangtze River urban agglomeration in 2005,2010 and 2015 are analyzed,as well as the global and local spatial autocorrelation of the urban agglomeration in the middle Yangtze River.Finally,this paper made a spatial econometric analysis of the influencing factors of the spatial efficiency of urban agglomerations in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River and put forward some suggestions based on the empirical results.Through reading and collating the relevant literature,the article had three innovations:One was innovation in space efficiency.Based on the existing index system of efficiency research literature,and taking full consideration of the impact of environmental pollutants to constructe the index system.The principle of validity of DEA model was fully taken into account when determining the number of indicators.In order to avoid the situation that multiple efficiency values are 1 and can not be further analyzed,the super-efficiency DEA model was selected.The second was innovation in the influencing factors of space efficiency.This paper combed the influencing factors index system of relevant literature,determined the influencing factors according to the current situation of urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River,chose the spatial econometric model and used relevant tests to select the best empirical results,and consulted the relevant literature to prove the credibility of the results when analyzing the results.The third is innovation in space efficiency and space-time differentiation.The exploratory spatial data analysis method was used to analyze the global and local temporal evolution of urban agglomerations in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River.Therefore,this study can not only provide relevant ideas for other scholars to study urban agglomeration and efficiency issues,but also provide some operable suggestions with the help of the research results,which also has a certain practical significance.The conclusion of this paper is divided into two parts: the conclusion of spatial efficiency analysis and the conclusion of empirical analysis.There are three main results of the research on spatial efficiency.First,the urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River has developed well on the whole,and the fluctuation degree of the development level is relatively small.In terms of urban agglomeration,the overall development of the urban agglomeration around Changsha,Zhuzhou and Tantan is the best,while the overall development of the urban agglomeration around Poyang Lake and Wuhan economic circle is not very good.Secondly,the development of the urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River has not formed a stable and mature development path.The development of cities at all levels within the urban agglomeration is unbalanced.The provincial capital cities have a certain radiation driving effect on the development of the surrounding cities,but it is not obvious at present.Thirdly,there is a weak negative correlation between the spatial efficiency of cities at different levels in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River,and the degree of negative correlation shows a growing trend.However,with the path of the overall development of the urban agglomeration becoming clear,this negative correlation will gradually weaken,and may gradually change into a positive correlation.The empirical results can also be summarized as three main points.Firstly,economic openness,fiscal expenditure,consumption capacity and economic development level have a positive impact on spatial efficiency.Secondly,secondary industry,tertiary industry and fixed assets investment level have a negative impact on spatial efficiency.At present,urban agglomerations in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River should pay attention to the structural rationality of regional Industrial Development and should not be pushed too comprehensively.Third,urban population density has no significant negative impact on spatial efficiency.Although the current population density has little impact on the development of urban agglomerations in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River,attention should be paid to improving the Comprehensive Quality of the People.Based on the above conclusions,in order to improve the spatial efficiency of urban agglomerations in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River,solve the imbalance of urban agglomerations’ internal development and improve the economic development quality of the whole urban agglomeration,this paper puts forward the following six suggestions: strengthening the level of economic openness and improving the utilization efficiency of foreign capital;properly increasing financial expenditure to providing more public services;increasing the disposable income of the people,encouraging consumption and boosting economic development;strengthen the supervision of environmental protection production,and improve people’s awareness of environmental protection;pay attention to the rationalization of industrial structure and steadily promote industrial upgrading;strengthen the driving role of core cities to promote coordinated and balanced development of urban agglomerations. |
