As the leading force of China's economic development, manufacturing industry has made remarkable achievements in the past development and made great contributions to China's construction.Manufacturing industry has also maintained a high level of contribution to GDP.But the low cost, the low resources and the low environmental means to promote the real economic development, this extensive growth model leads to the deterioration of the ecological environment."Transforming the way of economic development" has been urgent,so the study of manufacturing total factor productivity is of great theoretical and practical significance to the successful transformation and sustained growth of our economy.Through the research of total factor productivity(TFP),this paper explores the quality of economic growth in China's manufacturing industry and analyzes the inherent changes in productivity in manufacturing industries under different ownership.Specifically, this article uses the DEA-Malmquist law to study 27 industries in the manufacturing industry. From 2005 to 2016,for the research time, the TFP in the manufacturing industry is divided into ownership,sub-industry,and sub-category.The changes of total factor productivity, technological progress and technological efficiency are discussed in detail.Following are the main conclusions: Firstly, the total factor productivity will be affected by economic fluctuations. The trend of change within different periods of time is different, but the overall trend is gradually increasing.Secondly, there are also differences between the changes in total productivity in different ownership industries.Overall, the productivity growth of private manufacturing is the fastest, and technological progress is the main factor.Productivity growth was the slowest in state-owned manufacturing, and growth in technological efficiency was the main reason. The technological efficiency and technological progress of the foreign-funded manufacturing industry have jointly promoted the growth of the total factor productivity.Thirdly,TFP is different in different industries. Most of the industries with high TFP levels are driven by technological progress, and most of them are industries with high openness and fierce competition.Fourthly, the research on the industrial classification productivity found that TFP growth in the textile processing industry was the fastest, followed by the resource processing industry and finally the machinery industry. Finally, the author puts forward some suggestions for the above analysis.
