The Impact Of The Quality Of China’s Imported Products On Enterprise Research And Development

Since the reform and opening up,China’s foreign trade has developed rapidly,according to the United Nations statistics,China’s import trade volume raised from 0.23 trillion dollars in the early 21st century to 1.68 trillion dollars now,actually increased by 6 times during 15 years,growth significantly.From the consequence of the comparison of import and export,we can see that the number of imports of our country take 50%of total import and export volume.Obviously,more attention should be paid to import trade.With the rapid growth of the number of imports,the quality of imported products has gradually been taken seriously,currently the quality of the product play a vital role in the economic development,have a deep effect on economic transformation of China.The state also concentrate on the promotion and supervision of the quality,the present development of China’s economy is not the pursuit of growth speed any more,but more attention is how to improve the quality of the product.On the other hand,the future of China’s economic development,the development of science and bring forth new ideas of technology has become the most powerful support.In the present society with a rat race,improve the ability of research and keep continuous innovation is the key road to enhance the.competitiveness of a firm.In addition,these can also help a firm gain a foothold in the domestic and international markets.Enterprise is the main part of China’s economic operation,how much does the money put on the research and development play a key role in its ability of innovation and the achievement.So it become an important indicator to measure the pursuit of enterprises,comprehensive quality and development potential.Enterprises with contonuous innovative always take an advantage position in market expansion and gain more profit margins.This paper first measured the quality of imported products in China through the import trade data of China’s overseas enterprises during 2003 to 2013.Secondly,the results were matched with the data of China’s industrial enterprises database,related research are conducted to compare the impact of the quality of Chinese enterprises to the research and development of enterprises.The results show that:(1)The quality of imported products from Chinese enterprises is rising in the fluctuation,and this rising trend is effective for different enterprise with respective nature,product category and import country;(2)As to the investment of research and development,the improvement of the quality of imported intermediate products will promote the development of it,on the other hand the promotion of the quality of capital goods will have a negative effect on it.This suggests that there is the effect of learning from import and substitution effect,at the same time,the negative effect of the improvement of the quality of capital goods is more intensive than the positive effect of the improvement of the quality of intermediate goods;(3)From the output of new commodities,promote the quality of imported products will inhibit the output of enterprise’s new product,not only intermediate goods but also capital goods;(4)From the perspective of all control variables which influence the research and development of a firm,government subsides have the greatest impact on it.Besides,market concentration has the greatest influence on it in all affecting factors of the output.
