The Internet boom has been promoting the rapid development of information industry.But it has also presented some problems.There is no specialized statistical investigation and classification system for information industry.The development gap of information industry is very big between different regions.And,how to coordinate the development of information industry and traditional industry?This paper tries to find answers from the input-output perspective.Different from previous scholars,we pay more attention to the quality of information industry development than speed.This paper uses the input-output method to find out the differences and similarities in industrial structure and economic efficiency between different regions,and establishes the linkage model between industrial structure and economic benefits.There are three main research contents of the article.Firstly,we determine the classification system of China's information industry,and separate the information industry input-output table from original 42 sector input-output table.Secondly,the input-output technology is used to analyze the structure of information industry in various regions.Based on the differences in industrial correlation effect,final demand structure,industrial development coordination and economic benefits,31 provinces(municipalities or autonomous regions)in China are divided into five similar clusters of information industry.Finally,we analyze the quantitative relationship between industrial structure and economic benefits in detail,and points out the deviation direction and degree of the real industrial structure for each area.The main conclusions of this study are as follows.(1)The information industry has obvious regional differences and clustering effects;(2)Information and communication technology manufacturing is the leading and pillar of China's current information industry;(3)The application of information industry in most areas is not extensive enough;(4)The eigenvector corresponding to the minimum eigenvalue of the direct distribution coefficient matrix is the best industrial structure vector that can maximize economic benefits.Based on the problems discovered in the research,the following suggestions are proposed for the development of the information industry:(1)Balancing inter-regional and intra-regional differences;(2)Accelerating and exlarging the application of information industry in various industries;(3)Developing the manufacturing of information and communication products vigorously to drive the overall development of the information industry;(4)Strengthening the support for information industry and encouraging independent innovations to improve its economic benefits;(5)Taking the information and communication products manufacturing industry as the leader and pillar,and promoting the adjustment of industrial structure and the sound development of the national economy.
